Watches and wonders novedades

Those of us who love high-end watches had high expectations for the Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023 and we weren’t wrong.

The Geneva event is the perfect place to bring together the latest and most innovative proposals from leading luxury watch manufacturers.

It is the perfect occasion to praise all those proposals that bring together unparalleled craftsmanship, incredible designs and the best engineering creations of the major brands.

And although we were suspicious about some of the trends, such as, for example, the theme of intense colors, the truth is that on this occasion certain models turned out to be totally unexpected.

Find out what’s hot around Watches & Wonder Geneva 2023 here!

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023 Trend Summary.

  • Bold and vibrant shades.

We could see the launch of watches with colorful dials, even in somewhat daring combinations, however, the classic colors such as white, black and silver, were not entirely absent.

  • Materials.

Materials such as titanium were used in different models, especially those celebrating their anniversary this year.

  • Informal designs.

Bubbles, puzzle pieces, emojis and even an image of “the Muppets” form key parts of the watch design in this edition of Watches & Wonder Geneva 2023.

An example of this is the ProPilot X 400 from Oris, this watchmaker decided to present a Muppets-themed edition, which includes the iconic frog from the series.

Watches & wonders Geneva

Rolex at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023.

The Oyster Perpetual 31, the Oyster Perpetual 36 and the Oyster Perpetual 41 showed in this edition a face that has been baptized “Celebration”.

It has a turquoise blue dial with colored bubbles outlined in black and in different sizes.

Another of Rolex’s proposals is the Oyster With this proposal, the luminous colors of the lacquered dials that Rolex had already presented in 2020 are back, but now a little more daring.Perpetual Day-Date 36 featuring ornamental stone spheres in iridescent shades reminiscent of the atmosphere of the Mediterranean coasts.

The green venturine, carnelian and turquoise are combined with different types of 18 carat Everose, yellow or white gold.

Rolex’s Most Controversial.

Arguably one of the most controversial models presented at this edition of Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023 was possibly the limited edition Day-Date 36 Puzzle Motif.

A piece in which the days of the week are replaced by inspirational words such as: ‘Happy’, ‘Eternity’, ‘Gratitude’, ‘Peace’, ‘Faith’, ‘Love’ and ‘Hope’.

Another curious fact is that the ‘date’ window at three o’clock does not show numbers, but emojis, an unexpected element.

From a heart, a clover to a cheeky kissing face can appear in the window of this ROLEX, years ago no one would have imagined that Rolex would design a watch with these features.

High End WatchesPatek Philippe 2023 in Geneva.

In Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 Patek Philippe dissociated itself a bit from sports watches, and even removed from its catalog the reference 5711 Nautilus, as well as left in the air the new models of that line and the Aquanaut.

However, in the 2023 edition, AP decided on a different strategy by extending the Aquanaut line, remembering that this model is the smaller version of the Nautilus.

The brand also presented colorful Calatravas, although in much more discreet colors than the Rolex and Oris proposals.

Another of the novelties of Patek Philippe in Watches and Wonders 2023 is the Gondolo Serata 4962/200R, a high-end watch that is originally intended for ladies, but this time leaves open more possibilities.

Three details that stand out about the Patek Philippe Gondolo…

The first is that thanks to this model returns to rectangular geometries, the second is the fact that it has a striking setting of spessartites adorning its pink gold case and the third detail is that it stands out for the floral decoration of its lacquered dial.

Vacheron Constantin at Watches and Wonders 2023

While other brands focused on novel designs, Vacheron Constantin made an effort to present a specific complication at this event, and that is the retrograde.

Retrograde indications are supported by a needle or needles that run through an index, but the indexes do not complete a full circle but an arc.
.

For this reason, the needle does not follow a continuous path, but stops at the end of the arc and immediately returns to its starting point to begin the measurement.

To make this happen requires a greater mechanical complexity than a conventional one and although this detail is not that it provides a functional advantage, it can be said that it is charming.

This complication is present in three of the models presented by Vacheron:

  • Les Cabinotiers Dual Moon Grand Complication.
  • Traditionnelle Tourbillon Retrograde Date Openface, Traditionnelle Tourbillon.
  • Overseas Moon Phase Retrograde Date.

The Great Absentees at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023.

Unlike Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet is the only one of the brands that make up the “Holy Trinity” that was not present at the event.

The rebellious son of the Holy Trinity, was absent along with the Swatch Group brands, Bvlgari and Breitling.

In fact, AP is one of the few high-end watch brands that has not joined the Watches and Wonder Geneva 2023 show.

Possibly, once again Audemars does not want to share the limelight and for this reason presented its 2023 novelties alone.
