This is the most anticipated watchmaking event of the year, and surely you have already heard about it, but do you really know what the Watches and Wonders fair is?

Here we will explain you all the interesting details about the awaited event…

History of the Watches and Wonders Fair

The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, also known as FHH, is in charge of organizing the largest international watch and jewelry fair.

Once again in Geneva, Switzerland, important brands and the most renowned manufacturers in this field will gather.

The Watches and Wonders fair arose from the idea of organizing an exclusive meeting between the most outstanding brands in this field.

There converge Cartier, Daniel Roth, Piaget, Baume & Mercier, among other manufactures, who were the main ones to meet for the first Watches and Wonders Geneva fair.

Watches and Wonders is an event formerly known as Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, SIHH, which was established in 1991.

Fundamentally attended by the brands of the Richemont group, the SIHH is considered one of the leading luxury watch shows alongside Baselworld.

SIHH is now… Watches and Wonders.

In October 2019, FHH announced that, for its 30th edition, i.e. in 2020, SIHH would change its name to.
Watches and Wonders.

It should be noted that in 2020, renowned brands such as Chanel, Chopard, Tudor, Patek and Rolex, announced their withdrawal from the HourUniverse, to be part of the Watches and Wonders Geneva fair.

After this announcement, other luxury watchmaking houses wanted to be part of this event, and this is why today we can see many brands taking part of this.

Luxury and design combined with fine watchmaking, is certainly a spectacle to be admired at the Watches and Wonders Geneva fair, for this reason, it is always a highly anticipated event not only by brands, but by watch lovers.

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2022

Since the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, many events like this one had to cancel their usual formats, as they had to comply with World Health Organization (WHO) restrictions.

Undoubtedly, this caused some chaos and confusion among the organizers and also among the participants.

All this led to a decision regarding the 2020 and 2021 fairs, where the commitment was made virtually, thus respecting biosafety protocols.

However, the year 2022 was a year of joy for watch lovers, as it was announced that the live experience of the Watches and Wonders fair would return, as it was for many years.

So incredible was the receptivity during this event that Richemont, Rolex and Patek, took the decision to create a non-profit organization, which has the primary mission of promoting fine watchmaking worldwide.

The success of the 2022 annual gala has created high expectations for 2023, great feats are expected from the sponsors and participants of this one.

Watches and Wonders 2023 in Two Phases.

For this year, the date for the Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023 fair has been set for March 27 to April 1.

At that time, the “In the City” event is scheduled to begin, when the watchmaking houses will give a sample of why they are part of this exclusive invitation.

The Second Phase…

“In the Salon” is this second phase of the event, and on this occasion, the exhibition will be open to the general public.

This means that most will wait for this exhibition, which starts on April 2 and ends on April 5.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour, which will be responsible for exposing the novelties of watchmaking this year, in addition to exhibiting all the projects of the participating watchmakers and brands.

It is there that all the latest trends in international luxury watchmaking will be presented.

This important event is almost here!

News from the Fair.

For this event, the organizers decided to show that art is linked to any form of expression, such as fine watchmaking.

For this reason, and during the second phase of the event, they will have an exhibition called “What Time is it?”, which will be presented by photographer Karine Bauzin.

This exhibition will allow those present to immerse themselves in the experience of learning about the relationship that exists between each individual and their perception of time. Theme for which in reality everyone will gather during all these days.

More speakers and collectors will also be present, that is to say, if you are a great lover of luxury watches you should be attentive to all the details of this fair.
